Scattered Wings opened it's first studio space in summer of 2022. Due to construction plans for Hillcrest Landing, we are currently exploring new spaces and what the future has in store for us. Take a look around and be inspired by the vision behind what makes us unique! We're excited to take you on this next adventure with us.
Story behind this front room - At Christmas time Foster Love was on the hunt for a cool old rusty truck for a backdrop for our sweets with santa event. Every morning at school drop off I was captivated by this beautiful rusty truck. I knew I had to find the owner. Thankfully it wasnt too hard. His logo for Dennis Electric was on his side doors.
So what did I do? I called his business and simply said, "you have a beautiful truck. I stalk you every day. Could my non profit borrow it for a fundraiser." And just like that, we had the most beautiful set up and he didnt think I was too weird.
This random call has turned in to one of my most favorite connections. Dennis has provided all materials and stepped in excitedly to do the work. His whole family is pheonomnal. Everything in this space has been approved by his 5th grader - who my Allie girl is obsessed with.
I love bringing people together but Im simply in awe of the people and connections that have been made through the creation of this space.
The chairs hold a special place in this space. Not one chair is the same. Some are beautiful. Some have cracks. Some are wood. Some rock. And some have fabric. It's a visual reminder for all of us that we are all different and sometimes broken and bruised, but we are all unique and beautiful. Chairs also have purpose. They support us humans. We all have this purpose. We can support one another at all times. We are YOUniquely Made!
WE LOVE TO INNOVATE! This wall speaks for itself. Visit the What We Offer page for more details on all the options listed. The nice thing about this wall is that we it's always changing! After the grand opening, this was transformed into a wall for Foster Love's Artsy Kid's teacher to display the lesson, examples, and eventually student work. Every wall in the back room is interactive. What could you use this wall for?
As I said in my introduction, I strongly believe it's possible to scatter HOPE by Helping Other's Potential Explode. Scattered Wings is a safe space where I will challenge everyone who comes through the door to tap in to their limitless potential inside them. Oftentimes this will look like learning digital design that can go beyond my space, but other times it will be in the form of deep discussions that are a result of the space alone - especially like the wall pictured below.
This wall will never be "finished" just like we are never finished with writing our own stories. Individuals will be encouraged to write parts of their stories on book pages - the good, bad, and/or the ugly. They can then glue them on the wall. Individuals can choose to keep parts of their stories private by gluing the words directly to the wall or they can face the words out if it's something they wish to share. This can be a group lesson that is interactive, creative, and challenging. At the end of the day, I want everyone to walk away knowing that their story matters and is powerful.
This wall is SOOO beautifully unique. The book pages do it for me, but the functionality of this wall makes my heart explode. I've envisioned.a wall like this for years, and my family and friends helped make it come to life. Fun facts - we made the glue out of flour and water, we glued the pages on to insulation that would allow for pins, and there are metal plates spread out across the wall for surprise magnetic opportunities.
As for programming - where do I even start? The possibilities with this one are ENDLESS. Sharing stories, sharing joys, sharing, scars, sharing grief, sharing life. But the sharing doesn't have to stop when talking about the past. The goal is to start sharing stories of dreams, stories or love, and stories of HOPE. Stories for the future that each of us can write. When we share our stories and dream together, anything is possible!
In this world, we can make a difference. We can be the change we wish to see. Putting an entire world map on to a single wall, makes my head spin. In the grand scheme of things, we are itty bitty, but does that give us an excuse? Whenever I fly in a plane, it's another reminder of how small I really am, but it makes me want to love a little deeper, give a little greater, and care with my whole being. Imagine a world where it just came natural to be kind. Now that would be the change we all need!
